A Ratchet Screwdriver

I remember this tool from my boyhood. There's no maker's name on it, but it's a superb tool. That ratchet mechanism is still sound. I have a 'modern' one of these that the ratchet failed on after precious little use.

This deserves a place on a toolboard.

A Ward Chisel

The Ward firm appears to have been a Sheffield tool maker -- it's no longer with us. Here's a close-up of the logo.

In between the 'W' and the 'P' is what appears to be an anvil, with perhaps two crossed tools above it.

It looks to be quite a fine chisel, though the blade end at one side curves in somewhat. It looks to me like a manufacturing defect, rather than something that was introduced by purposeful grinding. To correct that, I'd have to shorten the blade by almost an inch, and then grind a new cutting edge. That would give me a 1 7/32" wide chisel with proper, parallel side edges. Maybe I'll do that someday when I'm really desperate for something to do. In the meantime, this can join my other chisels in their drawer.

A Nut Pick

I haven't seen this since my boyhood. It's for digging the meat out of nuts like Brazil nuts.

It appears that my dad found a use for this one in his workshop; there's what looks like glue residue on it. I'll clean it up and find a residence spot for it in a kitchen drawer.

Here it is after some cleaning up.

It's quite a lovely tool.

A Gedore No. 351-103 Drift Punch

This is the first I've ever seen of  Gedore tools. It's likely to also be the last, considering the kind of price they want for their stuff. Check out this mobile workbench -- it's over US$3,200.00! The price of anything of theirs is out-of-sight.

This can join my other punches in their drawer.
